Wale Victor Folarin (born Olubowale Victor Akintimehin on September 21, 1984), better known by his stage name Wale, is an American rapper from Washington, D.C. Wale was born to Nigerian parents.

He started his musical career in 2005 by releasing mixtapes in the Washington, D.C. area. In 2007 Wale was discovered by Mark Ronson and signed by Allido Records,

After going on tour with Jay-Z in 2009, Wale became a managed artist of Jay-Z's recording label, Roc Nation. In that same year, he released his fifth mixtape, “Back to the Feature.” In 2011, Wale signed to Maybach Music Group. His progress in the music industry was nothing short of amazing.

Lemar, Chamillionaire, Shade Adu, Wale, Chiddy Bang, Seal and TinnieTempah are Nigerians but none of them has really identified with their Nigerian roots except Wale.

Wale who visited Nigeria recently, shared a photo of his dad,his uncle and granddad and they’re really of Yoruba origin, dressed in the traditional native attire. He has been in Lagos for 6 days now. He came to Lagos for the Johnny Walker event which took place on Saturday November 30th, 2013.
